Assignment

Question 1
The standard penalty for a first-time violation of the Honor Code is a one-quarter suspension and 40 hours of community service. If the student is in his/her final quarter of enrollment the standard practice is to convert the one-quarter suspension into a two-quarter delay in the conferral of the degree.

A CBS News producer was fired because an editor for The Wall Street Journal called CBS News to point out the similarities of the April 4 notebook item to Zaslow's article.

DT columnist fired for plagiarism
Columnist Ty McDonald took direct statements, ideas and content from "Plagiarism and intellectual loot," a post on Christiaan Briggs of his two articles. It is the responsibility of The DT to inform its readers of instances that compromise the integrity of the newspaper and the academic institution it serves.

Columbia Professor Fired For Plagiarism
A Columbia University professor was fired for violating academic integrity policies. She was relieved from her tenured position after plagiarizing the work of two former students and a former colleague. She accused the findings against her of being"biased and flawed." She also claimed that her skin color made her a target in this case.

Question 4
After read the following examples of plagiarism, I think I agree with the punishment because they all dishonesty with they exam. As a student, all we have to do is study hard and show what we learn, we should prepare for exam instead cheat on exam. In these cases it's common to happen in our daily life, I think we should be honesty with every exam even if you can't sure whether your answer is right or not. I think honesty is more worth than cheating for high grades.

I agree too. Working hard to improve one's self is far more important in life than a few more points on a grade. Plus, those who cheat might get caught!
